The final section of Sydney’s Kent Street cycleway has opened, completing a vital part of the planned network of cycleways through the heart of the city.
People now have a safe and separated north-south route between the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Darling Harbour, following the opening of the route’s final stage between Druitt and Liverpool streets.
This cycleway runs from Gas Lane near the Harbour Bridge to Liverpool Street and is used by around 1700 bike riders each weekday.
It links up with the King Street cycleway down to Sussex Street and across to Union Street in Pyrmont to connect the Harbour Bridge with the ANZAC Bridge.
We’re also looking at options to improve the crossing outside Observatory Towers for people walking and riding along Kent Street north.
