Castlereagh Street Cycleway

Sydney Cycleways

The City of Sydney understands that the NSW Government is proposing a ‘peak hour’ cycleway – which will be trialed for six months on Castlereagh Street.

We will support Transport for NSW in closely monitoring and evaluating the impacts of the time restrictions during the trial period.

An integrated full-time bike network is the City’s preferred option for safety and convenience in reaching destinations.

We recognise the design issues that have been raised and are committed to looking for ongoing solutions to their concerns.

Given the number of people riding has increased 130% since 2010, we need to ensure there are safe and convenient options for them.

More people riding means more room for everyone else on buses and trains, and less traffic congestion, making it easier for essential car trips, business deliveries, couriers and taxis.
